This article covers the First-Year Free Domain benefit. If your plan offers the domain free for as long as you keep the hosting, that is our separate Lifetime Free Domain benefit instead — check your package description to see which one applies.
Some of our hosting packages include a domain that is free for its first registration year only. From the second year onward, the domain renews at our standard rate, the same as any domain bought on its own.
In short: year one is free. From year two, the domain renews at the standard price, whether or not you keep renewing the hosting.
How this differs from Lifetime Free Domain #
| First-Year Free Domain | Lifetime Free Domain | |
| Year 1 | Free | Free |
| Year 2 onward, hosting still active | Standard price | Free |
| Depends on hosting being renewed | No | Yes |
Your package description at checkout states which of the two applies. If you are not sure which your plan includes, check your order confirmation email or ask us.
Renewing from year two #
You will receive a normal domain renewal invoice ahead of the second-year renewal date, at the standard rate for that extension. This is separate from your hosting invoice and is not affected by whether the hosting renews on time.
The domain is still yours #
The domain is registered in your name from the start, exactly as with any other order. Paying the standard rate from year two does not change ownership — it only reflects that the free period has ended.
